Midwich ANZ has today acquired the New Zealand company Wired. With offices in Wellington and Auckland, Wired is an AV distributor, importer and manufacturer specialising in HD distribution solutions for domestic and commercial market sectors in New Zealand and Australia.

Wired has been in business since 2003, initially supplying New Zealand-made cable assemblies, copper and optical to various markets sectors. With the growth and the merging of IT, security and audio visual markets, Wired saw the need to not only supply cables and connectors but also carefully selected hardware. The full acquisition of Wired by Midwich ANZ increases Midwich’s reach and ability to service existing clients. The benefits to the AV industry include:

  • Enhanced support with winning and delivering projects – through Midwich expansion of its specialist sales and technical assistance teams
  • Access to new technologies under the current Midwich ANZ vendor portfolio
  • Specialist delivery services – ensuring product arrives on-time and in perfect condition.

  • For Michael Broadbent, Managing Director, Midwich ANZ, the advantages of the acquisition are clear: “The acquisition of Wired supports two of our key strategic objectives – to provide outstanding value-added support to our customers and vendors, and to continue the rapid growth of our display solutions business.”

For Bruce Mackay, Manager of Wired NZ, the acquisition is the next step in an exciting period of growth: “This exciting move allows our team to join the Midwich group and provide focus on the areas where we believe we truly add value to our trade partners. We have seen 12 months of exceptional growth with a number of new and exciting partnerships, all of which we plan to capitalise on and grow further with the support of Midwich. We are looking forward to working in synergy with Midwich to expand our specialist distribution offerings throughout the New Zealand region.”
